After their narrow escape from Volterra, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen have returned to Forks, Washinton hoping to have a break from all of the chaos that has so far been a dominant factor in both their lives. However, they return only to discover that Seattle has been ravaged by a string of unexplained disappearances and murders, and once again find themselves surrounded by danger once they discover who is behind it.
While the Cullens anxiously begin to build up their defences in preparation for the impending battle with Victoria, five Children of the Moon have been discovered by the Volturi, who have began a chase that will result in the destruction of the five. In fear, the Children of the Moon have fled to Forks, seeking protection and aid from the Quileute wolf pack. Upon learning about the origins of these strangers, the Quileutes decide to form an alliance with them and keep them in hiding. However, there is one problem: the Quileutes know nothing about the Volturi and what they’re capable of, and must confide in the Cullens to gain that knowledge. In the midst of all this, Bella finds herself torn between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—who has developed a new secret and love of his own.
New relationships will form, loyalty will be put to the test, and the ageless struggle between werewolf and vampire may be forgotten. What will happen when the Volturi finally catch up to the Children of the Moon? What will happen when Victoria and the newborns get tired of their recreational killing, just waiting to carry out their plan to come after the Cullens? Only time will tell, and some may see their last sunrise.
