It's hard for most people to forget what happened that night twenty years ago. How the Akastuki managed to take control of one of the remaining tailed beasts the Ichibi. It was around that time that Naruto had finally learned how to control the Kyuubi and used it's mighty power to go after the remaining Akastuki members. One of which happened to be his old friend and rival, Sasuke Uchiha.
By the time their fight came around, most of the remaining Akastuki members had either been killed or driven into hiding. This included of course, Madara Uchiha. But Sasuke did not run, he stayed there to face his old rival. Naruto and Sasuke had stood still for a mere moment, taking in their surroundings. Then they went at it in one final battle. The two fought for hours, evenly matched. Even when facing exhaustion it seemed their battle would never end.
Finally however, they both laid down the last blow upon one another. Ending this feud which had lasted for what seemed an eternity. Laying down to rest, the two recalled the times when they were Genin and how they used to bicker and argue with each other. In those days the two of them felt truly at peace. Sasuke and Naruto looked at one another one final time, before drifting off into darkness.
Despite the fact that Sasuke had been a rogue ninja, the hidden leaf village still felt it was their duty. Their duty to hold his funeral alongside their saviors. At the funeral there were many tears, tears for both of these brave ninja. It was sad. In some strange sense however, it was also a happy time for the hidden leaf shinobi and a happy time for Naruto's spirit. Making his greatest dream come true, the fifth Hokage dubbed Naruto the sixth Hokage, hoping that his image may shape the shinobi world into a better place.
Nearly forty years have passed since that day, all the other shinobi that have been alive during that time would have most likely died in combat. A few were lucky enough to survive and die of old age however. Though things seemed to be peaceful after the final battle, the shinobi were unaware of what might be happening in the shadows.
In a new village in the Land of Shadows are shinobi who have abandoned their own villages, abandoned their homes for the sake of controlling this world. There they hide, waiting for their forces to grow strong until one day they can strike down hard on the other villages in terror and malice.
