[/sub][/center]How Much More Do We Want
Until We're Satisfied?
Swiftwind stood as close to the rock wall as possible, her eyes narrowed and her upper lip curled into a vicious snarl. She was young, a kit still, but used to the treatment she received from her brother, sister, and father. A sharp hiss erupted from her chest, sending vibrations through the air strong enough to bring a chill to her enemy's spine... if she wasn't a kit.
"Swiftwind, I want you to attack Lionpool," her father, no, stepfather, said with the utmost seriousness. Swiftwind stared up at her 'father' momentarily, before staring back at her opponent, her half-brother. With a start, she realized how much larger this feline was then her. She was severely outmatched... and her father knew it. One look at his sadistic, smirking face, and she was sure of it.
Still, she could not disobey him, right? Swiftwind charged forward, ready to bring down the huge cat, but things would never turn out how she wanted back then. She was weak, ignorant.... This warrior... was moons more experienced then her. She was just a kit after all....
Almost immediately, Swiftwind found herself with teeth to her neck, just poking through her skin and making her bleed. She let out a cry of fear, but dared not utter a word to the giant cat. Her father would surely save her, right?
"Lionpool, enough! You are ready for the life of a warrior. I have trained you well if you can attack a kit without mercy," her father said, his voice more vile then anything Swiftwind had ever, or would ever hear. The giant cat let her go, letting Swiftwind scurry away to the safety of her den. Her heart was screaming in her ears.
But unfortunately, it was only the first of many more mental scars she would receive in the moons to come...
***
With a start, Swiftwind awoke from her fitful nightmare, her blood pumping through her veins so fast, she could have sworn that she'd really been running for her poor life. Idly, she brought a paw up to her neck, only to let out a sigh of relief that it was not bleeding.
"The same dream again," she muttered to herself. She cast her eyes around the warriors den, her pupils wide to make sure she could see every detail. After all, Swiftwind didn't want to trip over anyone on her way out of the dens. There was no sleep after a horror like that.
Lifting herself, Swiftwind scurried out of the den as quietly and as quickly as she could, her body aching for the feel of cold night air. Anything to get her mind off the dream she'd just had, no matter how false it seemed to be. Swiftwind had often spent hours trying to figure out if her dreams were true, or some kind of sign, or something... but when she thought back to her life as a kit, no such thing happened. That, and surely Barkstar would have stopped such a thing from going on when he was still their leader.
Regardless, there was still an aspect of that dream that was true: her step father and half siblings hated her. They hated her for being half RiverClan in blood. They hated her mother for her sin against the Warrior Code, and in many ways, Swiftwind hated them all just as equally.
She stepped outside, giving her pelt a shake to relieve herself of the heavy visions she'd just had. Swiftwind padded out to the center of camp, casting her eyes around to make sure no one was watching. A light of mischief flickered in her eyes, and suddenly, she was bounding towards the Highledge, climbing its side like their leader, and standing at the top proudly.
Let all cats old enough to gather their own prey gather below Highledge for a clan meeting! she thought, wishing that she could say those words. It wasn't unusual for an apprentice to one day wish they were leader, but Swiftwind, now a warrior, often took her wishful thinking to a whole new level. After all, how many full grown warriors would actually waste their time fantasizing quite like this?
Infinity,
Where do we go from here?
